Hi - my SO has dropped countless hints that she wants diamond studs. I'm considering getting her some. I think they'd need to be 0.5ct each or more, with a very minimal setting. Round cut. White gold or platinum.

What I'm not sure about is how important color and clarity are here... I'd imagine that clarity is not terribly important since people don't look as closely at earrings as they do at rings. The color I think might be more important.

I think I would need to choose these on my own without her guidance - so there's no checking with her to see if anything is good enough. I just want simple and classic.

Can anybody give me some guidance as to how to go about making the purchase? Also, how much should I expect to be spending on these?
