So, here's a friendly reminder to keep watch on Nike's Twitter account as we near the 7:00 mark if you want another chance at one of the most iconic sneakers of all time. Jordan Brand is finally introducing the iconic Air Jordan 1 to Flyknit technology this weekend, but you don't even have to wait to grab the debut Jordan 1 Flyknit Banned edition, as it just went up via Nike Early Access. Jordan Nike Classics Brand made sure to keep within the confines of tradition despite the brand new woven upper here, as original Swoosh branding and Wings logos return in premium leather to contrast the breathable material throughout. The midsole is fashioned just as the original featuring encapsulated Nike Air for lightweight cushioning.
After its initial debut on the hardwood in 1985, the Air Jordan 1 quickly made its way onto the Nike Classic Shoes streets and into the skate parks on the feet of professional and amateur skateboarders alike. Beyond its performance-engineered construction, its color palettes began intriguing skaters looking to define street style within their sport, and its presence of the feet of Lance Mountain in a 1987 video secured the icon as a certified classic in the skate community. While not a Nike SB collaboration like its Air Jordan 1 High counterparts, the Jumpman is rolling out a slue of Jordan 1 Low colorways that pay homage to the model's role within the SB sphere this Spring. This weekend, two colorways of the Air Jordan 1 Low Phat will be released and to kick off this new variation, Jordan has applied their infamous elephant print and colors from the Air Jordan III.
This new "Phat" model pays homage Nike Air Max 360 to Air Jordan's past as an impromptu skate shoe. In the 80's, before there were the big name skate shoe companies, many skated in the Air Jordan 1 as there were few alternatives available. All the pieces of the Air Jordan 1 are in place and little has changed, silhouette wise, but additional padding has been added to the innards and to the tongue. This is similar to what was done to the Nike Dunk as it was slowly converted into the Nike SB version. A white/cement Air Jordan 1 Low Phat colorway will also release on September 27th, 2008. Both colorways will only be available at select Jordan retailers but of course we found them on eBay early.
The Air Jordan 1 Phat LS pictured above marks the debut of Nike/Jordan Brand's new Marine Blue' hue, and this pair is ROY material like MJ in '85. Aside from the nice tonal blue colorup, the coolest thing about this pair is how some sections of the dark blue overlay are translucent and reveal the mesh underlay a la Nike Dunkesto. Quite a hot look and one that has us excited to see more new takes on the AJ1, the Marine Blue Air Jordan 1 Phat just hit NikeStore or cop yours now on eBay. We've been treated to a number of OG Air Jordan 1 colorways throughout this year, and Jordan Brand will only continue to revitalize the classic first signature from 1985 with a number of new Air Jordan 1 "Rare Air" colorways featuring a new Nike Air' stitching on the heel panel for Spring 2017.
In an interesting twist of events, a batch of the "Banneds" mysteriously showed up at a Portland Nike Outlet yesterday with a price tag of $109.99, creating quite a stir in the sneaker world and as you can Nike Air Yeezy imagine, quickly selling out before the end of the day. It was reported that of the small run that hit the store, some pairs were B-grades, while others featured no indication, but regardless of which you got, it was still one of the most unexpected treasures ever to hit the outlets, so it's a win either way for whoever was lucky enough to cop. A few pairs from yesterday's random outlet drop have hit the resale market, so if you're willing to pay the price, you can snatch up a pair of these rare gems now from vnds on eBay. | |
